I had already dipped my toes in the Victory pond with the Satsuki
It is well loved and worn but I didn't enjoy the PDF experience.
This time we went with a paper pattern from Jane
First up, see those seams? They should match up!
Check your seam allowance Ladies.
(I assumed my overlocker had an 1 cm seam width, it appears it is a little larger, next time I will check my seams before topstitching)
Zara chose a lovely poly/wool from my stash, pairing it with black ribbing and charcoal topstitching.
So many lovely details and a great shape.
Check out those pockets.
Check out those great lines.
Much snappier then a track suit.
But evidentially just as comfortable.

Want this for me. I wish you were my mum.
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you Peta.
DeleteZara has bought fabric for another, light grey with pale blue stripes!
Stripes! I had better practice my matching skills....
xx N
So lovely on her - agree with Peta!
ReplyDeleteThank you Justine.
DeleteZara (and Elsa) are both wearing this a lot, over leggings and as a dress.
I am hoping the larger size may fit me....

What a pest that the garment with obvious topstitching was the one where the seams didn't line up! Still, it's a great looking dress. Love the colour combo (very Chanel) and it really shows off the pattern lines. I'd wear this too!
ReplyDeleteI know Shelley, what a pain! I was happy to unpick but Zara wanted the dress, stat, so we left it status quo.
DeleteI wasn't too sure about the dark binding, but as usual, Zara got it right.
With your lovely shoulders you could absolutely rock this outfit!
xx N
Beautiful! I love the lines and the colors of this dress.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a great comfy but neat dress for you and K, Cindy.
DeleteThank you.

I loooove my Lola Dress! One of the most comfortable garments I own, and surprisingly flattering.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a link Camille? I would love to see it.

Oh I think the non-matching-up seams do not matter a bit - they're evenly mismatched so who would know? So glad this pattern has been a hit. It looks so gorgeous on Zara. - J x
ReplyDeleteWe love it Jane and I much prefer the paper pattern in this case. I think we shall be shopping with you for all our Victory needs from now on.

This is great!!! Zara looks great as always. I agree with you on the PDF - I much prefer the paper patterns
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen, I have been thoroughly spoilt by O+S PDF's. The Victory Satsuki
Deletemade up to a huge sheet and I had a lot of trouble with it matching.

Everytime I have seen this modelled I think how slimming it looks. Not that Zara needs any help with her figure! She looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI would like to buy this for me but the paper pattern is double the price of the PDF over here. Do you think it is worth buying the paper version? I am imagining a lot of pieces with all that seam matching.
Thanks Katy.
ReplyDeleteMy grumble with the PDF is the huge sheet it makes up, not individual pattern pieces like the O+S ones. I also had a lot of trouble with gaps in the printing, but maybe it was my printer.
That said, it was hard to go back to tracing very fine tissue (which the paper pattern is) it doesn't show through like black lines on white paper.
So, not much help, am I?
xx N
That's lots of help! Thank you xx
DeleteI LOVE those seam lines! She looks so sophisticated in this :) I'll have to head over and check out their patterns now!
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice pattern Kristin and not that more complicated then a sweat shirt.
ReplyDeleteJust check your seams (sigh)
Thank you.
xx N
This is really lovely! The seam lines definitely make the design, not to mention the fun pockets. I made this a few years ago, but need to revisit the pattern with a better fabric choice (live and learn!).
ReplyDeleteI would love to see your version Joy. I am very taken with this dress and Zara and Elsa both wear it.
ReplyDeleteWhat fabric did you use?
