So jealous!
Jed took the Fab Five to Otways.
I was unable to participate due to my pregnancy.
On arrival they were measured and fitted for harnesses.
Tildy only just made the 105 cm cut off. (3 foot 5 inches)
But she had to tandom jump with daddy.
This was followed by a 20 minute training and observation lecture.
Heading off.
Getting strapped in with Daddy.
The first pole was ten metres above ground. The actual length of the fly was thirty six metres.
Liddy coming into land at the 'cloud'.
The platforms are built around Silver Ash trees.
Jed's landings were a bit ugly as he Tildy on his front and couldn't see his feet.
Zara coming into the 'cloud'
They reached speeds of 35 km/h (22 m/h) on the shorter fly's.
A view from the 'cloud', approximately 19 metres above the ground.
Blackwood trees.
Silver Ash trees, 40 years+ old.
This forest was cleared and burnt in the 1970's.
The burning of the remaining land caused the seed pods to burst and spread the seed for rejuvenation.
Looking down.
Zara doing a 'cannonball' to reach the other end of the 120 m (131 yards) long fly.
On this fly you could achieve speeds of up to 45km (28 m/h)
All up there were six fly's and two bridge walks.
Magnificent ferns which could grow as high as 12 metres (13 yards) over a thousand years.
The walking bridge.
They were still harnessed in for this but you had to walk it.
Tildy didn't quite reach.
This was about 8 metres from the ground.
With a little help from her dad!
All done!
The whole experience took about a hour and a half.
Matilda and Lidia coped with it perfectly fine.
As recommended, I purchased light, shower proof jackets for everyone (I got them second hand off eBay). I also packed dry socks and track pants and everyone had a change of shoes to put on when they got back to the car.
This may not be needed in drier weather but made travelling back to Lorne far more comfortable.
The Fab Five (and Jed) had a light lunch at the cafe, on site, which cost $45.
They then did the Tree Top walk which was a bonus with the zip line fly.
They did the walk pretty quickly in an hour.
Overall, an awesome experience. We booked online which was a little cheaper but for the whole crew it was a cost of $490. (+ lunch)
That is a bit pricey for us but everyone agreed it was well worth it.
Jed- ''I felt like a teenager again ''
Hugo- ''Amazing fun''
Zara- ''Incredible''
Elsa- '' Thrilling and it was great to met new people there''
Lidia- ''Awesome, lots of fun and really cool''
Matilda- ''Amazeballs, I wish I could do it again''
As I said, sooooo jealous!

Looks fun! Hope you her to go next time!
ReplyDeleteI hope so Amy. I was pretty gutted to miss out but we love Victoria and we will be back!

LOL - Matilda said "Amazeballs?" What brave kids. I would have been frightened.
ReplyDeleteShe did Masha! She loved it!
DeleteNone of the children were nervous and there were a few squeamish people in their group so Jed was bit concerned.
I think as Tilly had to tandem with Jed, that kept her happy and Liddy is certainly tougher then she looks!

I wouldn't be scared to do this myself, but I would be scared if my kids were doing it. I'm so enjoying reading about your adventures!
ReplyDeleteThank you Janice, its probably a bit dull compared to many Hol's but it is working so well for us! We are staying in beautiful accommodation and eating lovely fresh food.
DeleteEveryone is getting on so well and its a happy group.
xx N
Oh what lucky children! It looks just as they said! : )
ReplyDeleteThank you Sharon, they were so grateful, they realised the cost but all agreed it was worth it.

Oh my goodness that looks like soooo much fun. My three would love to try it as would I!!!! You're having the best holiday.
ReplyDeleteYou have to do this Peta, your children would love it!
ReplyDeleteHugo reckoned it was too short. I am definitely going back in a few years.

Amazeballs!! LOL - I'm jealous, too.
ReplyDeleteShe said it was amaze balls!

How fabulous is this? My kids would love it - me, on the other hand.... ;-)
ReplyDeleteIf you get a chance Justine, do it!

Oh, precious moments!
ReplyDeleteLove that you took the time to share it with us :) I almost felt like I was there!
Matilda described it so well "Amazeballs" :)))
Thank you Ana Sofia, I hope it has not been too boring.
ReplyDeletexx N
Wow. That looks amazeballs indeed!
ReplyDeleteI know Inder, I can't wait to do it!

This is amazing, and definitely more exciting than our average holiday. Jay suffers from terrible vertigo, so this would be a no no for him, but I think I would give it a go. Bless Tilly and Liddy. Such brave girls.
ReplyDeleteIt was something we wanted to do since our last holiday Katy. Quite expensive for us, but absolutely worth every cent.
ReplyDeleteI really want to do it, so lets hope this baby is a big 'un like Liddy!
