From Black Tie to Beach Wear
They skipped to the head of the queue, again!
Last time it was formal wear, this time, clothes for the Aquatics Camp.
First up, some tee's for Elsa
A Gimlet top by SBCC patterns.
She chose a grey marl knit with a self fabric neck band and we cropped it a fair amount.
Elsa found the dream catcher image and stylised it to make a freezer paper stencil.
This one is her favourite piece.
Another SBCC Gimlet, this time in a thick stretchy cotton/lycra.
We left the length and added a gorgeous transfer from Van Ikke.
And yet another Gimlet, this time in white, with another freezer paper stencil.
The shorts are from Purl Soho, they are the free City Gym shorts pattern that is taking the sewing world by storm.
These are super quick to sew.
They also look great!
Zara chose a Kwiksew pattern for an oversize tee in stretchy cotton lycra with more fabulous Van Ikke transfers.
One white.
One black.
A pair of grey track pants, the same as Hugo's.
Another pair of City Gym shorts, these in taslon for drip dry swim shorts.
I also made her a dark denim pair which I literally snipped the threads on before she headed out the door, thus, no piccies.
Elsa modelled for her.
Zara was a bit busy.
These bottoms work well on the girls too.
The Twins turn on the rota, tick!
I hope they have a blast.

What a great ensemble for Aquatics camp! I had not heard of those shorts and happily clicked over to save it to try for Kiela as well as myself. I love all the transfers and those sweats look so cozy right now :D Great job!

That's quite a lot of awesome sewing! I'm very intrigued by the Van Ikke transfers. Is there just the site in Dutch from which to order? I know my girlie would love those tiny mice.

Gosh, that's some seriously impressive production! The dreamcatcher stencil works really well on that grey knit. It's all worthy of a round of applause! Bravo.

DeleteI don't find knit sewing easy at all, and, as it is for teenage girls, it has to be just so or it becomes pi's. (Which is not such a bad thing)
I think it is bit like growing and eating their own vegetables, if they have a hand in it, they are a big more open to it?

ReplyDeleteEvery one of these pieces is great, practical, and executed in a professional manner! I'd honestly never guest these were handmade, if it weren't for the Eglington, cute transfers and other details that give you away.

ReplyDeleteI thought those shorts were from that vintage Simplicity pattern at first. I think they are quite similar.
Everyone raves about the CG shorts, if only I had the legs for shorts. I will end up making them for the girls in the future though I'm sure!

Wow, so any beautiful things! I love them all, but the camper van is my favourite. Or maybe the shorts... Do the van Ikke transfers stand up well to washing?

DeleteSo far, they are washing well. I do turn the tee inside out and make sure I don't peg the transfer or dry in full sun. I don't tumble dry either.
They are so cute, I saw a woven blouse with a bunny one on it and I really want to try it.

This whole post is just full of amazing sewing. You make even the 'boring' basics glamorous and great. Abby would love that dream catcher tee, or the camera one, or the sweat pants... let's face it, she would love them all (as do I).

How do the twins like the city gym shorts? I've been thinking about using the pattern to make running shorts for me...when the weather gets warmer! Love the transfers and the stencils...they look great!

DeleteElsa said I can make her 1/2 dozen pair for summer and that (and a bikini top) is all she will wear.
I am planing some running shorts. I wear skins but I like something a but looser over top if I run on the town oval.
