We interrupt our scheduled programming.
The Oliver+S Secret Agent trench coat made up in the gorgeous fabric by Prints Charming.
When I saw this printed drill in Spotlight Adelaide I flipped.
It is so soft with a lovely hand and it doesn't have the awful 'inky' smell many printed drill's give off when ironed.
I think the colour combination is so clever. I would never have thought of it.
But I love it!
So does Matilda!
I think the Secret Agent trench works beautifully as a dress.
Which make the pattern even more versatile.
The nipped in waist is sooo cute.
With the extra length and the higher cut bodice is works well as a frock.
But all the lovely details, the shoulder and sleeve tabs, the belt, the double breasted buttons make its instantly identifiable as a trench coat.
Great patterns and beautiful fabrics.
What more could you want?
We now return to our normal programming .

PS TUTORIAL BLOGGED HERE
The trench coat is so over the top fabulous.
ReplyDeleteAs for Matilda Jane, she's Princess Charming!
Fun photo shoot, Nicole.
Thank you Deb.
DeleteI cannot remember the last time I enjoyed myself so much sewing something.
It made me so happy and the fact the Tilly loves it is the cherry on top.

That's one outstanding coat! Super cute. I like the belt slider and the extra button on the shoulder flap.
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha ha Shelley, isn't that button meant to be there? I ended up scavenging one from Hugo's trench as I thought I was one short.
ReplyDeleteThank you,it was so much fun sewing a la McStitch!

I can't tell you how much I love this. She is completely adorable in it. I need that fabric, NEED it!

It is just incredibly fabulous. And yes, so Elmer! I didn't realise you lived near Adelaide. We'd love to see you in The Drapery some time!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jane, it is Elmer-tastic!
ReplyDeleteI will definitely check out your shop. I have to be in Town next week. If a whiskery man comes in inquiring about merino knit and double gauze, that's my Jed!

Wow! That's all I can say!!!! This is fantastic and Tildy looks absolutely adorable!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen, when I saw this fabric I immediately thought of the Secret Agent trench.
DeleteTildy is so much fun to do a 'shoot' with, the trick now is to stop her posing.

oh my goodness, nicole, the sweetness on that second to last photo makes me want to burst! seriously. too.much.cuteness.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rachel.
DeleteIt was so funny, she did a huge ladies trouser burp (fart) when she sat down and got the giggles.
The result was lovely sparkly eyes once we all calmed down.
(Yes, we are juvenile)

ReplyDeleteThank you Cindy, it is such a quick sew for the results.

I can't stop looking at this trench coat!
ReplyDeleteThat 2nd to last photo is just too cute! And what an absolutely perfect bun on top of her head! I think if I remember correctly you did training in hair styling ~ it shows.
Thank you Rachel, that is huge praise from you, I am blushing.
ReplyDeleteI did train for 3 years as a hairdresser but the bun is a little kit I picked up in a jewellery store. Tilly's hair is baby soft so I used the 'dough nut' foam thing to bulk it up.
It took literally minutes but stayed in all day.
(even survived her wearing her helmet when she brought the sheep in with her brother on the quad bike).

PS I adore your Library dress on Liesl's blog.
So, so cute! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you Liesl.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited you left a comment-I am so not cool!
It is a great pattern, I want to have another play and make a 1950's style car coat without the collar and tie.

ReplyDeleteDear School Principal,
ReplyDeleteI regret to inform you that Matilda will no longer be attending school on a regular basis. As of this past Monday, she is officially, as determined by all neutral and objective parties, TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL.
Thank you for your understanding,
Nicole
