'Me' Time

My turn of the 'rota'.
My choice?
Separates. Comfortable, easy-to-wear but still snappy.
First up, a Lisette Continental blouse.
Modified to fit me
I sewed it up in some gorgeous sand washed linen I purchased on our Victorian holiday.
I am definitely heading back there again.
I love this blouse so much. It has a lovely shape, no potato sacks here, but plenty of ease to pull up to feed.
I did add a couple of inches the hem.
The skirt is self drafted from a 20 year old favourite.
It pulls on with a high smooth elastic waist, it needs to be made from a very stretchy fabric.
Here it is after a full days wear.
A bit creased but ever so comfortable.
I do like the shaping at the back
Next, another favourite
Outfit number two.
Late Lunch tunic by Liesl+Co made in the same linen.
Paired with some McCalls capri pants.
For the tunic, I made a size 8 with a DD FBA.
I went with a size 16 length to play up the tunic look, which I really like.
The capri pants have a centre back zipper and back darts. They are meant to have front darts but I leave those off to allow for my tummy.
And how do they fit?
I love the tunic, the trousers.... not so much.
They turned out really baggy. I think I will stick to leggings with this top.
I do like the subtle shaping of this tunic. It is so comfortable but just so neat.
I really really like this top.
I am still pretty blobby after having Trixie and way way too tired to do serious exercise yet.
I just feel so jolly nice in this tunic and The Twins always comment when I wear it.
And believe me, if they didn't like it, they wouldn't say anything.
See, much better with leggings.

    1. Thank you Catherine, I struggle posting photos of me but everyone is so kind and I appreciate a modelled picture on a real body so I figure I have to step up.

Separates are great to sew (and extend your wardrobe) and that linen is fabulous. The tunic looks perfect with leggings! Very flattering indeed ;)

    1. Thank you Ana Sofia. Separates are best for me, with feeding and the multiple changers from baby posset it makes for a good working wardrobe.

  5. You're looking great Nicole - and lovely makes. Yes, definitely better with the leggings! Perhaps the pants will find a better match with a more fitted top.

  6. Look at you, beautiful! I love the pops of color you pair with these. I haven't ever noticed the back on the Continental, I really like it. And I agree, the LL looks fab with leggings. All your sewing looks great, and the best part it is for you!

    1. Thank you Britters, it is quite hard to sew for me, I don't really like my body right now and at least new clothes make me feel better.

  7. Thank you Britters.
My tummy is still pretty wobbly so I like to feel neat but not uncomfortable, tunics fit the bill well (plusI can still access the boobs)

  10. Both tops are wonderful, Nicole! I agree that the Late Lunch definitely looks better with the leggings. A pair of skinny jeans would work too!

    1. Thanks Cindy. I cut out the trousers just after Trixie was born, I guess I was still bit puffy.
I tried Jane's suggestion of pairing them with a fitted tee, with rolled up legs and flat shoes, and I really liked them.

  14. The shaping on the back of the first top is really quite lovely! And the late lunch looks so great with leggings. I have the late lunch pattern but I'm dragging my heels on trying it. One of these days! :) The pink necklace and shoes are such a great and stylish touch in that last picture. Love it!

I like a shaped back as I (kid my self) hope it is a little flattering.
The Late Lunch is great but definitely take your higher bust measurement and do a FBA.

  15. I was reluctant to do the continental blouse (it is in my stash) (the boobs are a concern) but maybe I'll try it now that I have seen yours (blouse that is).

  16. Heather, I wear a DD so I hear you! (And I have my belly to deal with) I find with the roads I made, it is my go to blouse. I wear it over a tee shirt any day.
    Thank you!

  17. I love the gray color of both tops. Those pants look great - I'm sure with a different shirt they would be awesome. The second tunic is my favorite of this set for you though. It is so slimming and I love the waistline :)
