Can you believe it?
That is Tildy in the basket! |
But, no, he split the backside out of all three pairs in one week.
So new trousers were required but nothing too 'schoolish'.
Thread Theory Jedediah trousers to the rescue
I have made Hugo the shorts before.
And jeans for Jed.
So I was reasonably confident.
Stretch cotton moleskin with jeans style topstitching.
(fabric from Eliza's $2/m)
Just a hint of copper stitching
Japanese lawn facings and pocket bags.
The facings are simply another back yoke cut with the two yokes sewn as one.
I used the French seam finish on the bottom of the pocket bag this time. It looks good and stops the bag riding up.
Just to make me happy.
I shortened the legs by 18 cm using the lengthen/shorten line.
Navy is so hard to photograph.
One groovy pair of trousers.
For my gorgeous boy.

They look great Nicole! Love the forward thinking to beyond school days. You're also selling me on Thread Theory patterns for the Mr Tall & Lean in this house...... & a trip to Melb for a visit to Eliza's. $2/m??? Seriously!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Renae. I can't believe he is nearly finished, a Gap year and then University (I am off to cry now.....)
DeleteIf you go to Melbourne you have to go to Eliza's.

Awesome job on these! Very professional looking. Love that $2 fabric too. Victoria is so far away from here though!
ReplyDeleteThey are a great pattern that gives a very professional finish Virginia. I am so pleased I have found them.
DeleteThank you!

Ha! like I need more fabric though!!!
ReplyDeleteShe who dies with the most, wins!
DeleteThey look great! I especially like the touch of the orange bar tacks.
ReplyDeleteThank you Masha. I hope to do a lot of contrast stitching on Jed's next pair.

These are fan.tast.ic., Nicole! Out of the park! Hugo is a handsome lad! Can't believe he's about to graduate!
ReplyDeleteThank you Inder, seriously great patterns. Proper clothes not Big4 knock 'easy' patterns. I find they never look quite right and then they just don't get worn.
ReplyDeleteI know, leaving school? When did this happen?
xx N
Gosh they grow so fast :D
ReplyDeleteToo fast Kristin.

What a fantastic pair of pants. The pocket stitching is perfection. The right pocket detail just takes pants over the line for me. These look very professional. I still have to make this pattern up, you've got me feeling inspired!
ReplyDeleteGreat modelling as always Hugo! Xx
Thank you Shelley, they are being well worn and loved but have 'grown' a wee bit and possibly could have sized back with a stretch woven.
