Comfy Sewing

You know, when you have to get dressed
But you really don't want to.
Hudson pants  but in a woven.
Sewn up in soft denim, my seemingly endless roll that I purchased five years ago (or so) from eBay.
As Hudson's are made for knit fabrics I knew I would have to size up.
I decided to wing it and use the same size I made here. These pants still fit but are very drape-y now. The Twins intimated they would wear them if they didn't suit me.
I am very pleased with the seat of these, they stay nice even after a day of wear.
Not too 'mum-bummy' and I have a flat arse.
As Elsa says 'You don't have a bottom, just a thigh with a crease in it'.
Rather the using ribbing for the pocket trim, I trimmed back a woven polo shirt collars (people hand them on to me in droves, it must have been the thing to buy and marinate in your stash in the 90's) and used that.
It worked really well.
I was tempted to used the same for the cuff but had a very similar ribbing so went with that
I used cotton/modal for the pocket bags.
A trick I learnt sewing Zara's trousers.
The drawstring is completely faux but mandatory (according to the Twins).
So, will they score them?
Will they heck!

~My Verdict~
Love them, super quick to sew 2 1/2 hours and I am not a speedy sewer.
I think I may have sized up 3 sizes for my hips? They fit fine through the bum and thighs but almost  pull at the back of the calf.

I am right into capsule wardrobes at present and these fit in perfectly.

Also, being woven and not knit, I can get a second day from them if I air them in between wears

xx Nicole

They sit a wee bit lower so one doesn't get that 'bulge' thing that can happen with lazzy pants.
      Thank you!

  6. Love them, they look super comfy but nice enough to leave the house in. I am a big fan of the capsule collection and as much as I love bright pretty fabrics, I stick to mostly black and grey, because everything goes and I am comfortable those colours.
    Great job.

I love my clothes now, I donated 3/4's of then (didn't fit, didn't wear then) but I now have more outfits and always feel nice.
Hugo purchased me an app for my phone that I can use like polymer, but with my own clothes!

    3. Style App? It was about $6? I crazy love it and play with it when feeding or waiting for the girls to finish netball practice.

I like jeans in Winter as I get cold and I can be in and out the house but I think in mild weather, these will be great.
I think these would suit you too, in a soft linen?
      Thank you!

What a great idea to use old polo collars, they are often fine, I salvage the buttons.
I think these will be very handy in Spring when I have to dive into town and i need to shave my legs ;)

  21. ha ha! They look great! I would NEVER have guessed that you're only 5'3"! These pants make your legs look really long! I too know all about having in-house "fashion consultants" (although my "baby" will leave for her 3rd year of college in a little more than a month - time flies!) It sure comes in handy when I'm shopping for one of my 3 girls to have a smart phone, take a photo of the item in question, and send it to another one for her opinion.

  22. Thank you!
Yes, I am definitely the shorter side of average but thank you for thinking I have long legs.
Those teen girls keep us on our toes, it is good for me though. I am so busy I would just be clean and neat and I think it is important for my mental health to look nice as well.
I am dreading my Biggies leaving for Uni, I will miss them.
