I have 'discovered' vintage sewing patterns....
Love them!
I buy a lot off of eBay.
This seller sent me this sweet little pattern as a bonus-don't you just love that?
I had a piece of thirty year old Dimity print that I thought would work.
Similar era.
The neck is trimmed with a wee bit of broderie lace.
I used MOP flower shaped buttons and I tossed around the idea of using pale apricot coloured thread for the stitches and apricot bows but I thought it might limit the shoe choice.
Tilly has some divine red suede ballet flats.
I love the ties at the back.
Liddy had a similar vintage top, it always looked so nice!
It fits perfectly.
Just right for play.
I need to sew pretty dresses whilst she is little.
Because she is growing up so fast!

That is just adorable! I am obsessed with vintage patterns too. It's just a shame they aren't multi-sized (generally speaking) as I am constantly sewing quickly to use the ones she'll outgrow and then waiting impatiently for her to be big enough for the others. It's a conundrum! Except of course if you are talented at redrafting.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean!
ReplyDeleteI have started moving them to the front of the basket, like eggs, so I use them before they go off.
I really enjoy sewing them. I love the way they bind with bias and the pieces are just so well cut.
They suit the Twins well too, which make me very happy. The dresses are short enough to make them happy but virtually 'skanky ho' free!
Thank you!

Oh but she is a beauty. I love this little dress. And yes sew pretty things while you can because blink and they're grown.
ReplyDeleteThank you Peta, I brushed her ringlets out and she just looked so grown up! It made me a bit teary....
ReplyDeleteTilly is still happy to wear whatever I like but Liddy is starting to request shirts and trousers (sob)!

I love her hair this way Nicole, ever so sweet and the dress is divine! I too love vintage style patterns, even for my baby boy.
ReplyDeleteI copied the way Brittany had styled her wee girls hair ( that stunning School Photo dress in the Flickr pool). It stayed in all day.
DeleteYou always dress Caspian so nicely.
Thank you Sharon.

The dress is precious on your adorable Tilly!
ReplyDeleteThank you Cindy, our little girls are growing up fast, aren't they?

It's beautiful, Nicole!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw he dress in the Flickr it did reminded me of something :) I have this pattern pined in one of my pinterest boards ... (I knew I love it!!)
I am so sympathetic with little girls growing too fast - I dressed Maria today with jeans and boots (and an handmade top, of course) and she told she looked like a "teenager" (and love it). I do wish (need) her to stay little for a bit more (sob) :((
Did you really pin it Ana Sofia, wow!
DeleteWe are visiting my mother in hospital tonight and Tilly is dressed in leggings and a tunic to keep warm in the playground. She looks very groovy but I sort of wish she was in a little dress....
I must get on to the PlayTime tunic and pants!

Aw! She is so cute! The dress matches her cuteness. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI just love her in grey.

What a cute dress... But that little face steals the show!
ReplyDeleteThank you Brittany, I totally copied your daughters hair, I feel in love with her soft curls.

:)
ReplyDeleteShe makes me smile too!

Ah, she is so gorgeous! (And looks SO MUCH like her gorgeous mama!) I love this dress, love this style, love the fabric ... well, you probably knew I'd be gushing over this one, huh? It's right up my alley. Well done, Nicole.
ReplyDeleteOoooh yes, it is very Maggie, this little dress!
DeleteIf I have another baby, and its a boy, this is yours!

What a beautiful girl and such a sweet smile.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet message on my blogaversary post :-)
Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your post. I have been a bit remiss in my blogging but you made me think about it.
I am also determined to comment more, rather then thinking I will go back and write something later...

I've been remiss in blogging myself and reading blogs but am determined to 'get back into it' I miss not seeing lovely creations such as this. She is growing up fast - I am always grateful my girls still love wearing dresses.
ReplyDeleteA very sweet little dress Nicole.
Thank you Karen.
DeleteIts tricky to keep up with everything isn't it? I still have 'bread and butter' notes to write from when I was ill-terribly slack of me.
It is lovely to have little girls, isn't it?
xx N
I have just found your blog... it is lovely. Lots of lovely sewing. Score for me!
ReplyDeleteThank you, what a lovely thing to say!
DeleteI had better catch up on my blogging then, hadn't I?
xx N
It's so adorable and, you're right, you need to sew the pretty dresses now! My oldest girl never wanted anything pretty, so it's up to the younger two to wear the fancy things.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joy, I have been lucky with my girls. They have been very girly but happy to wear a mix of colours too.

So beautiful! This pattern is so sweet and your little girl looks so precious. Fingers crossed she doesn't go through a dress hating phase like I did.
ReplyDeleteThank you Megan.
ReplyDeleteIf she does, I am lucky to have a lot of very nice trouser patterns and an abundance of cousins little girls to spoil.
xx N
Please tell me you will frame that last picture, it deserves one! Beautiful dress.
ReplyDeleteThank you Brittney. I must pick your brains for some photography tips.
