Day 5 Victorian Holiday 2015

Being part of a big family can have it's disappointments.
Beatrix was very very poorly for the first few days of our break. She would only sleep on Hugo or me and even went as far as too refuse to breastfeed for over 12 hours. Thank fully, she would take a little water from a cup held by Lidia.
The holiday schedule of experiences went firmly on hold.
This meant, unfortunately, Elsa missed her  days horse riding and Hugo his Deep, Dark and Dirty mine dive.

But we have already booked Bendigo for next year and they are top of the list!

Love them!

Lidia and Matilda chose to do a pottery course at the Bendigo Art Gallery.
Funnily enough, a sewing gal-pal that lives in Colorado  USA found this workshop for me.
They were shown, step by step, how to throw a pot and shape it.
Here Ben is showing Liddy how to clean up and remove her vase.
It looked so much fun Elsa decided to join in.
She was a natural.
Tilly loved it!
Liddy wants to go back next year.
Once you have completed your work you can have them fired, glazed and posted to you.
These are Lidia's, she chose white almond glaze for her vase and blue for bowl.

I can't wait for them to arrive.

    1. It was a brilliant set up Catherine. Jed said there was no pressure to buy and the children could make as many pieces as they wanted.

Poor little Trix. We didn't need it but I was so glad there was a local hospital. I think she was as sick a baby that I have ever had. The breast refusal was especially worrying.
      Hugo was amazing.

  2. I just love that your family is all young enough to be able to travel with you! I really missed that this summer. My two couldn't go with us because they had work and other commitments. You will look back on this time, Nicole, as the best in your life. Even little Trixie being sick made memories. Her siblings are so good with her and they all did something special to make her happier or more comfortable. What a lovely family! I am quite envious, you know (in a good way, of course). I wish we had been able to have more children. Thank you for sharing with us all!

    1. Thank you Karen.
I am enjoying it while I have them all at home, it won't be long and they will be off and University.
We are looking into buying a van so they can bring their future partners along (if they wish to, I can hope).
The Biggies were such good sports with Trixies illness, I was so tired and they kept me jolly.
I know I have very lucky to have my big, beautiful family.

  3. Next time Nicole, you're not getting away without saying hello!
My folks live in a little town near Bendigo and dad has a pottery wheel in the shed. We should have our rendezvous there!
They're good kids to deal with Beatrix's illness and not have meltdowns. Hope you're all happy and healthy now.

    1. Awesome Shelley, we have exchanged numbers now so it will be easier. I didn't catch up with my Geelong pal either, Trixie being ill threw a spanner in the works.
I am sure P&A would fit in well with my tribe.
The Biggies were awesome, I was so proud of them. We have booked the same house for next year.

  4. That picture of Tilly is priceless. I am sorry Trixie was so sick; a very sick baby is just such a sad thing. Glad you had lots of hands to help.

    1. She loved it!
I am not sure they believed she was 6 (the youngest age that can attend) but she coped fine.
The pottery has arrived and it is gorgeous!
Thank you, poor Beatrix was so ill. I have never experienced breast refusal like it!
I was worried I would get mastitis

  5. Oh, sorry about Trixie getting sick! So bummed for Hugo and Elsa missing their activities, but I'm sure they wouldn't trade her for anything. Glad the pottery place worked out well. It looks like fun.

  6. Sorry bubs was sick! Sounds like your other kids are so good with her, and helpful to you. Our big boys did the pottery in Bendigo a few years back, it was really cool and we still have the dear clumpy little pots they made. Great memories.

  7. It was a shame Jane, as even when she got better,I was buggered but that is holidays with children. We still had a great time.
Bendigo was wonderful, the mill was great.

  8. So sorry to hear about Trixie :( A sick baby is never a good news.
Nevetherless, the pottery looks wonderful (we have done it as well and it was a great hit) and I'm sure there will be a next opportunity for Hugo and Elsa.
    You're such a fab family :)

  9. Thank you Ana Sofia.
It was such a shame and so exhausting to have a sick baby in a strange town, thank goodness for my helpers.
The pottery course was great and I am using the bowls they made.
