Pattern Chat

I was chatting to Jed the other day about patterns.
He asked me what I was sewing next.
I rattled off what I was sewing, what I had waiting, what I was cutting and what was next.
I explained that I was nervous about the next pattern as Matilda chose the fabric and it was a bit 'out there'.

'It's not a fabric choice I would make for an O+S pattern'
'Why not'?
'It's the wrong look,it may just suit a CC pattern,it would definitely work with a Figgy's'
'Who decides that'?
'I guess I do'
'Well,live dangerously'.

It really got me thinking.
On our recent holiday I came across an incredible fabric sale, and took advantage, purchasing several 1 m lengths of some quite different prints. I figured at 80c a metre it was not a huge waste of money if they ended up in the poor box.

So I have set myself a challenge.
To make 3 outfits from 3 pattern companies in a completely different fabric choice then that I would normally make.

It could be disastrous.
It could be enlightening.
Either way it will be good for a giggle!

Wish me luck?

  1. It sounds exciting either way it goes! Sarah likes to chose her own fabrics for patterns as well. I figure if she loves them it is totaly worth it. I will say not always what I would choose either. i thnl we mommies have "looks" we like to go for.
