I made Liddy the gorgeous Galena dress for her birthday.
But we had not had a chance to get some piccies.
Until now.
I wish I could tell you where to buy the fabric but I can't.
It had been marinating in my stash for 18 years.
I have pulled it out many a time but couldn't bear to cut it.
But she is worth it.
Now, I know some ladies were concerned about the key hole opening at the front.
There is no peekaboo here.
Lidia is skinny, skinny-malinki skinny and there is no shift and no visible nips on her!
It doesn't open up in the least.
Believe me, her sisters would be the first to point it out to her if it did.
Its a lovely, nicely cut sundress.
And she loves it.

I love it too. She's grown so much, such a pretty girl.
ReplyDeleteThank you Peta.
ReplyDeleteI really love this on her, perfect for my ten year old big girl.
Special fabric for a special girl :) Her hair is really long now!
ReplyDeleteThank you V, only for Liddy could I cut it up.
ReplyDeleteI razor cut her hair just yesterday to 'dead head' her split ends, but she wouldn't let me cut it any shorter.

Beautiful Liddy! She looks like a delicate flower, you were right to save that fabric for her. They are her colours are they not?
ReplyDeleteThank you Katy.
DeleteShe is my little English Rose.

Happy 10th birthday to the birthday girl!
ReplyDeleteThank you Rachel, my sweet baby is getting so grown up.

Aw, she's a sweetheart. The dress is pretty, too... :)
ReplyDeleteChristine, I don't know if it having Matilda to play with or just Lidia's personality, but she is much happier to stay little.
DeleteShe still loves pretend and her dollies. Elsa and Zara were always striving to be grown up.
I love that she is still 'little'
Thank you

I can understand why you waited forever to cut into that fabric, it is beyond gorgeous!!! It was just waiting for the right project. This sundress is so stunning!
ReplyDelete(and I laughed at the sisters being the ones to point out something as such- leave it to siblings!)
It's true right? Your sister will always tell you the truth!
DeleteThank you Kristin, I did smock one end of it and one time but I am much happier with this dress.
xx N
18 years! That is a well-matured piece of fabric. So pretty, for a pretty girl :)
ReplyDeleteJane, the scary thing is, that is probably a younger piece....
ReplyDeleteThank you!

Yay! I'm not the only one who holds onto fabric for decades! It has now been OVER 20 years since I learned to sew, and I still have a piece of fabric left over from one of my first sewing projects ever. I can't bear to toss it. I also have a million other odds and ends picked up in the subsequent decades. One of my goals for this year is to sew or get rid of some of those older pieces ... time to make room for more new stuff!
ReplyDeleteLovely dress, lovely girl.
I would be embarrassed to show you how much fabric I have Inder. But in my defence , I have been given a lot and I had the change to buy a large lot when a fashion house closed its city store. Who would knock back unbrushed fleece at $1/m?
ReplyDeleteI am trying to be firm and get rid of anything I know I won't use.
Thank you, Liddy is such a poppet.
