Baby Bubbles

I am enjoying Trixie's turn.
Bubble dress
A sweet bubbly Bubble dress.
I made Trixie the size 12-18 month (as per measurements) and it was spot on.
The bodice is pick-a-pick cotton shot with green and pink, a remnant I have had in my stash forever, just waiting for the perfect project. I lined it with some raspberry pink lawn. So soft.

The skirt, bandana bib and Tea Party bloomers are sewn in some silky lawn (is it Liberty)? sent to me from the kind and generous Ana Sofia
I trimmed the bodice with bobble fringe and black and white narrow grosgrain ribbon.
The buttons are white river stone flowers (flowers being Beatrix's signature buttons) sewn with black embroidery thread.
The same thread I used to do the bodice arm stitching.
I love it.
The wee capped sleeves give that bit of sun protection.
I may have a bobble fringe addiction.
The bloomers are just the job to finish off the outfit.
Because this cheeky Miss is not walking yet.
My babies are getting so big!
If you would like to sew your own Bubble dress I have a step by step tute here

You are most welcome.

Playtime for Baby Beatrix

Teeny, tiny, little girl sewing.
Oliver+S Playtime tunic
The fabric, a soft brushed cotton tartan, was a tiny remnant I found in a box of gifted material.
It was so soft I had to use it.
Originally, I had planned to keep it quite short, like a peplum top but the 50's vibe that was coming off it made me think of a lace hemmed shorty dress.
The thick, blue, cotton lace was a gift from the lovely Ana Sofia. In fact, I flatter myself the dress has a European feel.
Beatrix's signature flower shaped MoP buttons sewn with blue embroidery floss.
Now, to try and get some photos of it modelled.

Trixie is not walking but climbs e v e r y t h i n g.

The shorter skirt makes that a bit safer.
Beatrix's measurements put her in the 12-18 month size but this was almost a bit snug. She is a very placid child but grumbled at getting her arms pushed into the sleeves.
I would make the next size up for her in future.
I do like the sleeve and bodice shape of this pattern.
It has a 'Japanese pattern look' to it.
I do like her, just a bit.

If you fancy sewing a Playtime, I have a step by step tutorial here
Bye bye......

Queue Jumping Part 1

Alas, poor Jed.
He got bounced.
For Hugo and Me!
First up, the shirts.
Both are Aime Comme Marie beauties.
The Madame for moi (see what I did there)
And the Monsieur for Beamish.
Two awesome patterns, I review them here and here.
I swopped the Madame collar out with the Monsieur but I didn't shorten it quite enough.
My collar stand 'ate' my collar!
I had no more fabric (another remnant from the wonderful Eliza's Fabric in Sunshine) and had next to no time left to make another so I asked for help.
And my sewing homies gathered behind me, you guys Rock!
So I left it status quo.
My signature speckly voile for the back yoke (nearly all gone-sob)
I love the back darts and the two piece sleeve placket.
For Hugo....
Bone and mustard stripe stretch cotton poplin.
(Again, from my Sunshine shopping trip)
Reversed MoP buttons with red stitching (thank you Brains trust)
And the token red button holes.
Again with the stylish back darts, shaped yoke and two piece sleeve plackets.
Le sigh.

Next, the bottoms!

(Yet More) Sewing for Jed

Another polo.
'Cause he likes mine best!
photo from Google Images
My tried and true KwikSew 1242
With a deeper chest pocket as requested last time.
Jed is really hard on his pockets so I reinforced the back with interfacing.
I went with a navy packet and collar to 'man up' the pink and lime stripe.
As usual, I used my labelling tape to play up the sportiness.
White rubber buttons stitched with navy and a two piece placket finish it off.
The cotton webbing at the side vents is the cherry on top.
Another sporty polo top.
For my old sport.

Jed still a-waiting his fourth piece. Hugo and I jumped the rota to have some new things for the 'Go's 18th.

I will share those next!
