Playtime for Baby Beatrix

Teeny, tiny, little girl sewing.
Oliver+S Playtime tunic
The fabric, a soft brushed cotton tartan, was a tiny remnant I found in a box of gifted material.
It was so soft I had to use it.
Originally, I had planned to keep it quite short, like a peplum top but the 50's vibe that was coming off it made me think of a lace hemmed shorty dress.
The thick, blue, cotton lace was a gift from the lovely Ana Sofia. In fact, I flatter myself the dress has a European feel.
Beatrix's signature flower shaped MoP buttons sewn with blue embroidery floss.
Now, to try and get some photos of it modelled.

Trixie is not walking but climbs e v e r y t h i n g.

The shorter skirt makes that a bit safer.
Beatrix's measurements put her in the 12-18 month size but this was almost a bit snug. She is a very placid child but grumbled at getting her arms pushed into the sleeves.
I would make the next size up for her in future.
I do like the sleeve and bodice shape of this pattern.
It has a 'Japanese pattern look' to it.
I do like her, just a bit.

If you fancy sewing a Playtime, I have a step by step tutorial here
Bye bye......

  1. Gabriel is sitting next to me as I peruse blogs, and he just cried out "CUTE! CUTE!" upon seeing Trixie. Boy's got a point :) I love how this dress turned out and it's made all the better by the adorable little diaper cover and chubby legs peeking out beneath. The Playtime is one of my all-time favorite patterns!

    1. Oooh, Masha. Maybe we could arrange a date?
Thank you, she is deliciously chubby now. I really struggled with guilt issues when she was born, she was so tiny and I struggled to get her to gain weight and we both needed to go back to hospital.
It is a great pattern and I should sew more!

  12. Do it, Inder. This dress is very overlooked and has a great shoulder/neckline. If Maggie is still chubby, size up. I struggled getting Trixie's arms in and she is mega cruisey in regard to dressing.
    Thank you!

Love everything about it, but Trixie steals the show - these pictures are beyond cute. She's a little angel <3
