Portfolio,Re-visited.

I made several of these in the tunic version last year.
Here,here and here.

I wore them pretty well non-stop through winter and into spring.

The denim Portfolio top I wore over skivvies. It gave me a extra layer of warmth and covered the old belly rolls nicely!

It is definitely time for some more sewing for Mummy.
Having recently discovered Japanese Sewing Pattern books I was taken by the simple flattering lines and after receiving one for Christmas I noticed how similar those ''lines'' were to my already purchased Lisette patterns.
(that and I was feeling a little faint after looking at the pattern sheet)!

So dear Readers,I have set myself the challenge of creating a Japanese inspired Lisette wardrobe and I am blogging it to make myself accountable!

And this is the start of it...

I usually make the size 12 but found in a cotton stretch poplin the 10 gave a neat fitted top.
I repeated the tab from the pants to add a feature to the neckline which I deepened by sewing the neck seam with a larger seam allowance.
I also added an inch to the hem line.
Rather then add a cuff I sewed the sleeve cap as a band.

Next I made the 14 in a pale green hanky linen. I made it larger for coolness in high summer and so I can layer it over long sleeve t-shirts in autumn.

After that I made another 14 in a fine navy and white check cotton.

I have another two tops in size 10 cut from stretch poplin and then I will move onto some variations on the Portfolio pants.
I am looking forwards to putting some outfits together.

Wish me luck?

  3. Thank you Catherine and Cindy.
I will not be keeping much as most of it was 15+ years old and stuffed!
My leather coats and vests are fairly classic so they will stay and I do have a rather fabulous shoe collection....

I just wish I didn't feel so guilty!

  12. I love your Lisettes, and I'm a huge fan of Japanese Pattern Books. The sewing instructions are so clearly illustrated that, for me, it makes up for the 'squiggily' pattern sheet! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the pants.
