I sewed Hugo some new school trousers.
Vogue 1753
I double stitched and re-enforced and interfaced and double layered the billy-o out of these trousers.
I made exactly the same pair last year.
(In fact, I only made the one pair and washed them out every night and dried them by the fire)
I did mend them quite a few times so with that in mind. I made this pair extra tough in those areas that had required a fix up.
I also made them a wee bit on the big side and added elastic to the back waist band.
This young man is a-growing!
I used a silky Japanese lawn for the fly facing (which I added to the pattern and I am rather proud of)
And by using the same fabric for the front pocket bag they sit nicely and the pocket won't bunch up.
They are a fairly full-on sew but he loves them, and he does look smart, so they are worth it!

yeah!
I am in awe of these Nicole. Really. Your attention to detail is always so impressive (love the name too!)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Virginia. These pants are awesome. Love Hugo's pose.
ReplyDeleteThank you Deb, the pose is the old one. He is away working so they will have to wait for him to come home.

Thank you V.
ReplyDeleteI do love to sew fo my boy..... but those long legs!
The girls chose the title, I kept humming 'You shot me down, but I won't fall' as I was sewing these up!

Fantastic. I love your sewing for Hugo. I know it may not seem as fun as sewing for the girls, the quality of workmanship and the details - you are a star!
ReplyDeleteThank you Inder, you get it, its just NOT as much fun as sewing pretty dresses but he doesn't want to miss out.

They look great. I'm about to start some school sewing but I think with all that reinforcing your half term report card will look better than mine!
ReplyDeleteThank you Shelley.
DeleteI think I may pass topstitching 101.
What uniform pieces are you sewing?
xx N
These are fantastic! I know sewing for boys isn't as fun, but there is something about all the details and work that go in to it that make my heart go pitter patter.
ReplyDeleteThank you Brittney, our boys shouldn't miss out because the sewing for them is a bit dull.
DeleteI wonder if I could talk him into red trousers like your little fellow?
What am I thinking? Of course I could!
xx N
Hmm now if only someone made boys' shoes with this much reinforcement! They're fabulous Nicole, and Hugo clearly appreciates them which makes it all worthwhile :)
ReplyDeleteI hear you on boys shoes, the only advantage was that Hugo's feet grew so fast by the time the shoes were rooted they were usually too small any way.
DeleteAnd now he hands them down to Jed!
Thank you Jane, he does like some sewing done for him too. And while he likes it, I will oblige.
xx N
Nicole, these are gorgeous - as is Hugo. Well done. I know he appreciates your hard work.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandi.
DeleteI do love my Beamish Boy.

Smart pants! I must get this pattern my growing young too.
ReplyDeleteIts a great pattern Sharon. Just remember mens patterns are sized by their chest measurement.
DeleteI cut the wrong size, twice, forgetting that!
Thank you
xx N
He looks very smart in the pants indeed!
ReplyDeleteThank you Cindy, there are some really nice mens patterns out there.
