Sneaky

Tildy starts full-time school this year.
Sob!

School dresses are required.
So, I decided a couple of Jump-rope dresses would be the go.
First up, I made view B.
This dress has such sweet sweet details.
What about this dear little button tab?
And the front placket.
Who doesn't feel like a Rockstar after completing that placket?
As the school uniform fabric is a bit unaspiring I 'sneaked' in a wee bit of Liberty.
Shhhhhh
(Unfortunately, the nasty poly/cotton shrank and the Liberty didn't so the collar ending up with some edge 'peepage'
I sort of like it, its like teeny tiny piping.
At Zara's suggestion I added a webbing tab for school badges to be pinned to.
(Our school is tiny and my children are joiners)

I am currently working on a view A
Through my tears.....

  1. cute! you should feel like a rock star! That placket is sweet! And I love the idea about the twill tape for the name badge - much sturdier.

    1. Thank you Kristin.
I thought Zara was really clever coming up with that one. She said the badges flip down on her dresses and some of her polo tops have ripped.

Hugo, Zara and Lidia are House Captains this year, and the older four have all applied for the Student Representative Council (and as our school is tiny there is a fair chance they will get in).
It didn't seem too presumptuous to apply the twill tape.

  5. I love the 'peepage' of the Liberty! Your children always have the nicest uniforms even if they are uninspiring to sew.:)

(Mind you, the senior girls wear cut off denim shorts so I think we will be fine)

  9. I love the addition of the liberty! It should be compulsory for all school uniforms.
