A Shirt for Jed~ Butterick 3127

Jed does like a new floral shirt.
He was very keen on a navy Liberty Capel (yet to be blogged)
shirt I made Hugo for Christmas.

Unfortunately, his favourite shirt pattern uses 3 m of fabric and I had the dickens of a time tracking down 2 m for Hugo!
I hoped this Japanese lawn from Spotlight may do...
It's not Liberty but it is quite nice to sew
(It is a little 'grippy' and actually easier to sew)
I think Jed really likes this style as it gives him good tummy ease but without too much fabric at his shoulders.
I did add quite a few inches length to the body of the shirt as well as make the side shaping a little less dramatic but that is it.
A tried and true shirt for my whiskery fellow.

Thank you for reading

xx N

PS Jed was tickled pink, when driving through a Macca's last weekend, the lass serving him at the window told him she liked his shirt.

  2. Perfect! That fabric is gorgeous! I would have thought it was Liberty (but I'm not an expert).

  3. I suspect they are 'knock offs' Masha. It is nice but not as silky as Liberty lawn and it fades quickly.
    Thank you!

  4. That first photo is PRICELESS!!! Poor, long suffering Jed, at least he gets great shirts out of the fabric shopping! Love this fabric, and you're right, the shoulder fit is great in this shirt, this is a keeper for sure!

Dear old fella, he is very patient with my fabric shopping. This was a lucky find (the shirt pattern) the 80's styling suits his build well.
Not so sure about the Harry High pants though...

    1. He he, Andrea, he was a shearer for many years and learnt the skill of lying down of the board and sleeping in his breaks. No matter was noise. Shearing is hard yakka.
      Thank you!
