Do you fancy a Tea Party?

This is such a sweet little dress.
,
Its the oliver+s Tea Party dress.

It actually only goes up to a size 5 but it is quite roomy and Liddy so slight that it still fits her in the body.
I added a inch or so to the bottom of the bodice and the top and the bottom of the skirt panel and it fits her perfectly.
As before I fully lined it as I like the way it encourages the flare of the skirt.
However,I added the piping to the skirt rather then the bodice this time.
The fabric is from the very pretty Denyse Schmidt Hope Valley collection.
To make the dress look a little more sophisticated I used black hail spot muslin for the flat piping.
I thought these flower mother-of-pearl buttons were just right.
And I just love this vintage cotton lace.
Lidia loves the complete dress.

  7. I too was curious how it would look on an older girl. I think it suits her perfectly. And I just love your mods, beautiful details.

    1. Elsa has worn Liddy's occasionally over leggings so we knew it worked.

The tea party dress was the first Oliver+S I sew. Your vintage version is lovely and Liddy's looks so adorable.

  10. My goodness you are talented! I notice you use pinking a lot. I was
wondering if you use pinking shears or a pinking rotary cutter. I would like to start doing this but not sure which method is easier.
    Thank you!

  11. Thank you Susan!
I use Fiskar spring release pinking shears. I noticed on a lot of vintage clothing, pinking shears were used. Many years and washes later, the seams were usually still neat and firm.
I find them really useful trimming bulk without having to fret the narrow allowance will fray.

I have never used a rotary cutter. I would fear for my fingers.
