Don't toss those Scraps!

Do you want an excellent scrap buster?
The O+S After-School trousers.
I have a step by step tute here.
I had some long strips of this lovely light washed stretch denim left over from Hugo's jeans.
And Zara's skirt.
The nice thing about this pattern is that it is made up of a series of long strips and that is often what you have left over after cutting out.

Denim track pants are all the rage, very comfortable and neater (and more hard wearing) then knit.
Tildy has desperately wanted a pair.
Tilly is tiny!
Size 4 with the length of a 7 (but I chopped off a bit before I added the cuff)
Denim fades so I deliberately chose a lighter ribbing and used white, heavy topstitching thread.
I wanted to add a waist tie and make it functional so I used D-rings and two strips which I sewed in place after I had finished the trousers.
I left off the ruffles and went with a clean, jeans look.
How cute are these?
How cute is she?
Very stretchy.
Very sturdy.
These will be handing down to Trixie.
~Tildy's Verdict~
They are very comfy. I like the pockets at the back a lot.
I like the tightner too. I road my bike in them a lot.
They are very good for a pair of around the house pants.
I like them a lot because I can wear them two days in a row.

Got to love pants you can wear two days in a row!

  2. Oh, these are so great Nicole! I love the knit cuffs and the waist tie. They look great on Tildy. Judging by the size you sewed I think she is exactly the same size as my Natasha.

Really, it is just a back log of blog posts. Trixie has been unwell and comfort feeding so I caught up on my computer work.

  5. SO stylish & Tildy looks like she's having a ball wearing them! Too cute. :) I love the cuffs on these - esp for kids. Your front ties immediately take this pattern up a style notch. I've held off making them because something hasn't sat right for me with the elastic waist design. Inspired to get my thinking cap on now.

    1. They do have the lazzy waist, which can look a bit dodgy but i think these are a nicer trouser then you average pull on pant.
I only made the top once, too wide and too short for my bean poles.
Maybe Beatrix will be more suited to it?
      Thank you!

    1. Yes two days in a row, Jane!
Usually she gets so filthy/wet/paint stained one day max but denim seems more resilient.
(She even pulled them out the wash basket to ride her beloved bike)
      Thank you

  7. Tildy knows good clothes! These are excellent, Nicole. I really like that little belt at the front!! The faded denim is perfect with those cuffs. Just great little play pants!

My heart yearns to sew pretty dresses but top and pants are infinitely more popular and practical around here.

  10. These are brilliant! the cuffs are so cute, but you've made me think ... I could sew a regular leg length now, then when they're getting too short but still fit width wise, add the cuffs and get another year's wear. Nicole, you are a genius!
