OOP Simplicity 8017 Dungarees for Beatrix

The very last pair of dungarees , for now...
And I think these are my favourite.
I have had this pattern for ages and was determined to sew it before Trixie grew out of it.
By holding the pattern up to Trixie I could see it would be too short in the body so I cut, just under the front placket and added 2 inches to the body, front and back (and an inch to the hem)
The fabric is lush!
It is a corduroy remnant from The Drapery and I need to take a moment to RAVE about it.
After sewing up four odd metres of seriously stinky corduroy it was a joy to handle this.
No
Dye
Stink
Bliss, and the colour? It is not grey, not purple, not indigo but so, so pretty.
The dungarees have a back tie, like a waist coat, that is adjustable
There are shoulder buttons which make undressing very quick to do.
The second row of buttons is purely for decoration
The pretty, pink, enamelled shell buttons stitched with charteuse coloured thread.
I definitely think they are my favourites.
I really wish I had added a wee bit more to the hem.
But they are a great fit through the body.
I am definitely going to have to start altering Trixie's patterns.

~My Verdict~
Totally in love and I NEED to sew the pinafore next.
These were an enjoyable sew with lovely facings that enclosed all the straps and front plackets.
I really wish I had sewn it before as, even with my alterations it only just fits.
The corduroy was bliss to sew and I love the look (I reversed the nap Liesl Gibson style) for extra lushness.
~Trixie's Verdict~
I like the buttons, they are nice and pink-y.
I like the whole costume.
I guess they are comfortable....

So that brings my dungarees sewing adventure to an end, it has been fun.
Which ones are your favourites?

Thank you for reading... xx N
And Trixie's favourite? She declared ALL of them!

    1. The tan ones were my favourite until I sewed these. There was no comparing the fabric. The Drapery stuff was gorgeous.
      Thank you!

    1. The Drapery corduroy is absolutely stunning. I had accepted that modern cord had a stinky smell and a coarse feel but this stuff is gorgeous.
I cant wait for an excuse to buy some more!
      Thank you!

    1. I have been won over by the final pair ONLY because of the gorgeous fabric, the other stuff has washed up quite coarse.
      Thank you!
