Elsa's Choice

As previously mentioned, this year, with in reason, along as nothing important crops up like a birthday or a play or a party,I plan to sew for each family member, one after the other.
And Elsa was next.
And she liked this.
Photo from Dolly magazine
As we are on a tight sewing budget she had the choice of purchasing the fabrics herself or using something from my box room.
She chose the box room.
For the cami top she found some lemon hanky linen and she quite liked the look of a Vogue pattern I had made up for them when they were little.
Jed had found this remnant of cotton sateen at Spotlight a few weeks earlier. It was $1,marked down from $16.99/m.
Elsa decided that would do nicely and she found some white voile to line it.
She has already earmarked some pink with white polka dots cord to make the blazer when it is her next turn.
The camisole is so sweet.
The side panels are cut on the bias so it is fitted but still comfortable. It has a side zipper to facilitate dressing and keep the lovely shape.
For the skirt,we used the oliver+s 2+2 skirt as a base. I added length and kept the front waist band flat and the back gathered so it would pull on. Then I gathered the skirt rather the pleating it.
The lining I hemmed just a wee bit longer so that it shows as she walks.
The result?
A perfectly sweet summer outfit.
Perfect for a hot day.
But hopefully with tights, boots and a blazer she can rug it for winter.
However,it is far too hot to think about that today.

  10. I love how the outfits you sew for your girls are so pretty, functional, and yet, reasonably modest too. Such lovely young ladies your daughters are. You must be so proud!
