Read the Signs

Its been a rough few days.
One week back at school and most of the students have been taken ill with a tummy bug.
Our family was not immune.
Liddy bore the brunt of it.
I spent Monday in bed.
Tuesday night, just after midnight,Tilly vomited all through her shared bed with Liddy.

I showered the girls and settled them in front of The Famous Five in the sofa beds.

And Tilly promptly threw up in hers.
More bathing, more clean sheets, more hosing off the nasty stuff outside over the fence.
By 3:30 am I had the washing machine full,Tilly asleep,Liddy watching  my childhood favourite and I was ready for bed.
There were too many sheets to wash in one go so I put the rinsed sheets from the first set on the sofa bed in a basket, outside on the verandah.

The next morning Jed asked me about this
I explained to him that I often put baskets of wet washing outside at night and Hugo will hang them out for me before he does his farm yard jobs in the morning.
I didn't want him to mistake the wet rinsed ones for clean sheets and put them on the line.

'That's pretty nice' said Jed,'I didn't know he did that. I wouldn't do that'

So where was the dirty linen?
Hugo had put it in the machine.
The clean washing he had hung on the line.

Love this boy!

Hugo and Jed had a mild dose the next night.
Liddy rallied but I kept her home to recuperate.

11am today the school rang and I went and picked up Elsa.
After a horrid few hours she seems a little better.
As I type Zara is snuggled up in the sofa bed, surrounded by towels, she seems to have been hit with most violent case as a (fingers crossed)Grand Finale.

We were meant to head to the beach for Lidia's birthday, tomorrow, after the school swimming carnival but both will have to be missed.
The weekend we can reschedule.

The bright side is I get a few extra days to finish her dress.
There hasn't been much time for sewing.

Hugo is House Captain so will still attend and he spent the evening making banners for the little ones to wave.
Jed will nip in after lunch to watch for a few hours, hopefully Tilly&Liddy will be well enough to go with him.

I will stay with my big girls.

And I may sneak in some sewing....
Or a sleep!

xx N

He is pretty handy when he doesn't have his nose stuck in Alastair McClean!

  5. Oh Nicole, that's tough! I hope everyone is on the mend and Liddy has a happy birthday after all!
Would you believe my daughter is 6 and has never thrown up in her life? I can't. My husband says the poor girl will be in for a rude awakening when it finally happens. Perhaps at University? :)

I hope she never has too,in fact whenever mine are sick I point out that is what happens if you drink too much!
Zara said she is never drinking!

Liddy won't mind waiting a week, sweet Liddy never minds much

  6. Oh no! We just had a stomach bug too. It wound its way to everyone in the household over two days. Not. Fun. We were also DESPERATELY trying to keep up with the laundry. Oh my goodness, just one puking child can generate so much laundry - I can't imagine what your brood can do. Hope you're all better now.

    1. At least it is good hot weather to dry the bedding Inder.

The children are all on the mend,a few nights sleep and I should be fine.
      Thank you for caring.

  7. Bleurgh, you poor things... I think coping with illnesses is one of the major things that kept me from having more than 3 kids! I have no idea how you do it!
